Save Money on Gasoline By Following 3 Simple Tips

Hey guys, I bought a 2006 Ford F-150 not too long ago. I couldn’t pass up the $4,000 rebate that was being offered, and with the advice on this website I was able to save a total of $7,365.00. The MSRP was $31,120.00 and I bought it for $23,755.00. Now I face a greater challenge as gas seems to be creeping up again currently at $2.74, I needed a way to save money on my trucks consumption. I asked a few mechanics and they suggested I do the following.

Replace the factory air filter with a K&N filter. You can buy this on eBay way cheaper than at any auto parts store. Actually, the price at AutoZone was 53.00 and I paid 23.50 with shipping on eBay.

Remove the tailgate or add a cover. The theory is that this eliminates the air forced against the tailgate while you are on the highway. The more force pushing against your tailgate the more power your motor has to use to keep it at a constant velocity. If you remove the tailgate or cover your bed this allows the air to travel without holding your tuck back or creating any force strain on your bed.

Replace your regular oil with synthetic oil. The less friction in your engine the longer it will last and the less horsepower it will use.

Replace your stock exhaust with a dual exhaust. This allows your engine function smoother as it does not have to force itself by trying to push the exhaust through only one pipe.

My first concern was not modifying my truck, to the point that the manufacture would void the factory warranty. I asked my local dealer and the technicians told me that the first three you can do without worrying about voiding the warranty. The forth, however you had to do at the dealer in order not to void the warranty. I am saving up money for the fourth modification. I’m saving each week the amount of money it would have cost me to fill up for that extra week that I gained with the first three modifications. I did the first three so far and I have seen an improvement of 5 miles per gallon. Might not seem like much but if you do the math 30 gallon tank @ 5 miles is an extra 150 miles I can drive without filling up. To work, I only drive 20 miles, so it added an extra week without having to fill up. This saved me a significant amount of cash, try it. If you don't like dealing with eBay I found that this website that sells at wholesale price to the public AutoPartsGIANT.com
