How Kick the Smoking Habit

Quit Smoking!

I had smoke since I was 18. I picked up smoking in college during my sophomore year. I was smoking more and more until I reached 1 pack a day. I am now 26 years old, I smoked for 8 years, and at 1 pack a day I have invested 10,220.00 in trying to kill myself. Enough is enough I finally decided that it was time to quit. I had tried many times before to put down the tobacco but I failed. Every time I failed, I just stated smoking more and more. There was a point in my life when I was smoking two packs a day. I always had the misconception that smoking would get rid of my stress, but in-fact it created more stress for me.  After I would finish my cigarette, I would return to my desk at work only to find that nothing had change the deadline was still tomorrow and my boss was still a jerk. What did the cigarette do for me? Add more stress! Yep that’s right what happens when you’re in at work and you run out of cigarettes? You frantically begin to look for the smokers to bum off a cigarette from them, then if you cannot find them, or they don’t want to give you one. You go into panic mode, then you start thinking stupid ideas like going out to the ashtray and trying to find a half burned up cigarette you can light up. Some of you might have risked your job, to sneak out and go buy a pack. Yep were willing to risk the bread on our table for a cigarette. When our family wants to spend time with us what do, we do? We hang out then go outside and smoke, then again. If were bored what do we do? We smoke. There is every excuse in the world to smoke but no good enough reason to quite.

Well this year I learned that Smoking is only gives cancer to 3% of smokers. Good news hu? Well not necessarily, we always hear about cancer, cancer, the killer. However, the real killer comes in two forms one is the Budget killer and the other is your body’s killer. Let me put this into perspective.

First your budget killer: Cigarettes are going up in price every year, mainly because of political pressures to the cigarette companies. So now, you’re coughing up not only your lungs every day but also 5 bucks a pack. I live in Texas and I paid $5.65 a pack last year. What can $5.65 a day do for me? Let’s say that from the day I started smoking, instead I put away $5.65 in a savings account, now lets do the math. The IRA is making 5% return on investment. Let’s say it was a Washington mutual account ok now the numbers

When I was doing these calculations for you, I wanted to puke! I could have possibly had almost 20 grand! Instead, I invested it in cigarettes. How sad is that? If this is not a good enough reason then you need to read the second part.

Killing your Body: Emphysema is the number one killer of smokers one in 3 gets it! No one ever talks about it but I have a good link for you to see the medical explanation http://www2.oprah.com/health/oz/programs/smoking/self/self_addicted.jhtml

Now this is what worked for my to help me quit smoking. Don’t waste your money on patches, mints, or any over the counter stuff. The most powerful medication I took was Chantix. When smokers inhale from a cigarette, the nicotine binds to receptors in the brain, which have an affinity for nicotine. Similar to the effects of inhaling a cigarette, Chantix binds with receptors in the brain that have a high affinity for nicotine. Chantix designed to partially activate the nicotine receptor in the brain to reduce the craving for cigarettes and reduce the severity of withdrawal symptoms. Chantix blocks the ability of the nicotine to activate the brain receptors and stimulates the central nervous system that reinforces and rewards the experiences of smoking.

Here is the official website http://www.chantix.com/content/Chantix_Branded_Homepage.jsp?setShowOn=../content/Chantix_Branded_Homepage.jsp&setShowHighlightOn=../content/Chantix_Branded_Homepage.jsp?source=google&HBX_PK=s_chantex&HBX_OU=50&o=23119569|166373525|0

The medicine works great after about a week of taking the pill you don’t even want to smoke anymore the urge is not there. You can keep smoking while you take your pills then the pills will eventually take over and you’re done. Continue your treatment so that you don’t relapse
